HIGHLY recommend "Fast and Fancy Revolver Shooting" by Ed McGivern published in 1938 for even more reading into the era before the pistol was getting the defensive tool acceleration it gets today.
Really cool to see how they looked and operated! A guy I work with just picked up a new .357 lever gun and 9mm can. With .38 Specials, it’s practically a handclap rifle!

Yeah baby - check out the 180 grain cast bullets, such as Rimrock's (https://rimrockbullets.com/xcart/tsh-357-mag-180-gr-tc-per-200.html). Great for subsonics!
